OFFERINGS

I provide individual somatic therapy sessions from a place of compassion. I approach all sessions in a trauma-informed manner.  I believe in each clients’ wisdom about their own body. Sessions with me are collaboratively built on consent and equality.

I incorporate some or all of the following modalities: yoga, mindful somatic movement, dance, boxing, reiki, meditation, and more traditional therapy. With some clients we end up mostly talking and with others we end up mostly moving on the mat. Each session is individually tailored to meet a person where they are and address their needs at a given moment.

I often work with clients who have anxiety or depression and a history of trauma. Connecting with our bodies through movement, breath work, and meditation can assist with nervous system regulation. Stress lives in the body and as important as talk therapy are body-based approaches.

I often collaborate with other practitioners such as Psychotherapists, Physical Therapists, and massage therapists to provide the best possible care.

Testimonials:

I'm forever grateful to Kahlila for the work she did with me after knee surgery. I could not walk or stand but she worked with me to regain my core strength, exercise lying down, and to stretch and relax my body at a time when I was in pain and feeling so weak. After our sessions I was able to feel more "in" my body and to appreciate my body and understand that it would heal in time. The best part was the meditation and massage she did after our workout. I looked forward to that all week. I'll never forget those sessions that helped me get back on track. Thank you so much Kahlila. You are an inspiration and an angel.-

I have been working with Kahlila Kramer for years now and she literally saved my back. I suffered from regular bouts of extreme back pain but working with her each week has not only relieved that pain but made me feel more centered in fitness and in life. Her approach is working from the inside out, and she understands where you are at and what you need.

I have been fortunate enough to train with Kahlila in a variety of settings. I have been a private client, a group class member, and I have even trained with a partner and cannot recommend her more as a guide to enhance my strength both physically and mentally. Kahlila is an amazing listener to one's needs and is completely present, enthusiastic and supportive throughout every session from beginning to end. She has added so much not only to my physical strength training, but to my life.

I have really loved working with you. The sessions really were a therapy for me - the chat at the beginning, your encouragement, and your calming voice and presence throughout. You had a huge impact on me and my healing journey - more than I knew could be possible.

BIOGRAPHY

I first started doing yoga as a child but became serious about it at age 16 when I studied with an amazing Hatha Yoga teacher named Sita Rose. I studied martial arts, dance, and Pilates. As a survivor of trauma, I found the importance of having a connection to my body helpful with symptoms of anxiety and depression and for regulating my nervous system.

I received my Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, doing my field work at Safe Horizon in the Domestic Violence Bureau. I worked at the Brooklyn District Attorneys office in the Sex Crimes Bureau and Crimes Against Children Bureau providing counseling to victims. I also ran groups for sex workers and worked with the anti-trafficking bureau . Then I started my own investigations into mind-body healing.

While working one-on-one with clients doing yoga my interest in trauma-sensitive therapy deepened and I went back to YogaFit to complete their 100-hour Yoga for Warriors-Trauma sensitive yoga certification.

I am a memeber of The Breathe Network which “supports sexual trauma survivors with trauma-informed, sliding scale health and healing resources”.
